Facebook Revisited

Oh, all right. I don't take it all back, but I do have to revise my previous opinion about Facebook.

Now that I've been using the sight for over a month, I have to concede that it's handier and more fun than I originally thought.

What changed my mind? Several things. First, more people from my high school class joined up and it's been fun to find out what they're up to. Second, I set up an alumnae page for women who went to my summer camp and we've enjoyed having an online gathering place where camp alumnae of all ages can chat and post photos. Third, the moms' group in my complex has a page now, too, which has allowed us to keep in touch, post plans for the neighborhood Halloween parade and ask for favors. Last, I discovered "flair," little icons that look like message buttons that you can pin to a virtual bulletin board on your page. I can now express my extreme disapproval of Warner Brothers' decision to delay the release of the next Harry Potter movie without boring my friends.

Enough said. Facebook is still a major time-suck, but it makes connecting and re-connecting so easy that it's managed to earn a place in my good books.
